This seminar on Bioethics* will focus on critical issues that surface when one or more persons make the decision as to whether another human being will live or will die, situations that may occur at the beginning of life (induced abortion) or at end of life (euthanasia). These are topics currently in evidence all over the world which often generate controversies and conflicts due to lack of knowledge or misinterpretation of concepts.

The speakers will discuss the concepts of beginning of life as well as physical death from both, the scientific and Spiritist** standpoint. The lecturers will address the conflicts of interrupting or shortening a human life at any time during the life cycle through the optics of Bioethics and Spiritism**.

The seminar will be divided in two blocks featuring topics on beginning of life and end of life. In each block, following the talks, there will be a round-table discussion open for questions from the audience.

* “Bioethics is the study of ethical, social, and legal issues that arise in bio-medicine and biomedical research.” It includes medical and research ethics, among others. (https://www.niehs.nih.gov/research/resources/bioethics/index.cfm

**“Spiritism is a science that studies the nature, origin and destine of Spirits, as wells as the relations of Spirits with the corporeal world.”
by Allan Kardec in his book What is Spiritism (https://sma-us.org/about-spiritism/)
